On Sunday, June 15, 2025, a solemn Divine Liturgy was celebrated in honor of Saint Ieronymos the Pentaglossos, coinciding with the Name Day of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece. The service took place at the Holy Hermitage of the Transfiguration of the Savior – Saint Porphyrios in Malesi, Attica.
Archbishop Ieronymos presided over the liturgy, joined by a number of hierarchs, clergy, and faithful who gathered in prayer.
In his sermon, the Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese of Athens, Father Barnabas, emphasized that “the faithful confess Christ through love,” adding that “love is the starting point of confession.”
Speaking about Saint Jerome, Father Barnabas highlighted that Archbishop Ieronymos is a faithful imitator of the saint, both in his paternal care and in his love for his fellow human beings.
Following the liturgy, Archbishop Ieronymos expressed his gratitude to the hierarchs, priests, and all the faithful for their wishes, urging, “May our hearts be as much as possible given to the Grace of God.” He also stressed the importance of cooperation for the well-being of people and society, stating, “Freedom is a great good and must be exercised in collaboration for the common good.” He wished that Saint Jerome would always be a protector and helper.
In a special moment, Archbishop Ieronymos awarded the medal of Saint Philothei the Athonite Holy Martyr to Abbess Febronia, the head of the Holy Hermitage of Saint Porphyrios, recognizing her significant contributions to the pastoral and infrastructural work of the monastery.
