“We must cultivate the true faith and do good deeds,” underlined Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and all Greece at the Church of the Three Holy Hierarchs in Petralona, after presiding over the festal Great Vespers.
The Protosyncellus of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite Varnavas Theocharis, proclaimed the Divine Word, who, inter alia, referred to the life, the work and the teaching of the Three Holy Hierarchs, placing emphasis on the love for the neighbour. He also spoke of the spiritual, charitable and social work of the Archdiocese and the other Metropolises.
After the Vespers service, the Archbishop underlined, “The Three Holy Hierarchs is the essence of the teachings of our faith. The message of this day lies on two words, Orthodoxy and Orthopraxis, that is, to struggle for the righteous faith of the Church and to do good deeds according to the teaching of Jesus Christ.”
Moreover, he said that ” in an age such as our own there are many difficulties. There are many saying, ‘Do the right thing and nothing more’ whereas there are others saying, ‘I go to the church, I pray and nothing else matters’. In fact, we need both.” The Archbishop added, “After celebrating the memory of the three great saints of the Church, we must say emphatically to ourselves that we must cultivate the true faith and we must do good deeds.” At the end of the Divine Liturgy, the Archbishop wished everyone health.
