Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived on Saturday at noon at Tampa International Airport in Florida for Monday’s Epiphany celebrations at Tarpon Springs. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is expected to attend the Epiphany celebrations, accompanied by a group of ministers.
The Archbishop was welcomed at the airport by Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta, clergyman, the President of the Theological School, George Kantonis, and Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate. Metropolitan Maximos of Ioannina was also present at the event.
On Sunday, January 5, Archbishop Elpidophoros will preside over the archieratical Divine Liturgy at the Church of St. John the Baptist in Tampa. Then, he will attend the annual luncheon at the Innisbrook Resort – Tarpon Springs.
On Monday, January 6, Archbishop Elpidophoros will preside over the Orthros at 9:00 am, the Archieratical Divine Liturgy, and the “Great Blessing of Waters” at the Church of Saint Nicholas in Tarpon Springs. Then, he will head to Spring Bayou in procession for the Casting of the Cross and the Blessing of Waters. The Archbishop will be accompanied by Archimandrite Athinagoras Ziliaskopoulos, chaplain at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School Of Theology in Boston, Archdeacon Eleftherios Konstantinou, and Deacon Gedeon Varitimos.
