Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived in Chicago on November 8, 2024, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church in Palatine, IL. His visit began with a stop at the headquarters of the Holy Metropolis of Chicago in Lombard, IL, where he was welcomed by Metropolitan Nathanael of Chicago, Bishop Timothy of Hexamilion, and Metropolis staff.
The Archbishop presided over Vespers, followed by Orthros and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy on Saturday morning, gathering local clergy and faithful for worship.
The anniversary celebration will continue Saturday evening with a gala at Renaissance Hall, where parishioners and guests will honor St. Nectarios Church’s fifty years of service.
The Archbishop’s Chicago visit will conclude on Sunday with Orthros and the Hierarchical Divine Liturgy at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Des Plaines, IL.
