Following the announcement of the election of Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America offered his heartfelt congratulations, stating:
“With great joy, we received the news of the election of His Beatitude Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania. This is a momentous occasion in the life of this martyric Church. His Beatitude follows in the footsteps of a truly remarkable predecessor, Archbishop Anastasios of blessed memory, whose missionary vision and apostolic zeal revived and strengthened the Church of Albania, transforming it into a beacon of faith, hope, and renewal.
“As Archbishop Ioannis embarks on this new and sacred mission, I offer my prayers that our Lord will grant him strength, wisdom, and abundant grace to shepherd the faithful of Albania with love and righteousness. We in the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America take special pride in his election, as His Beatitude shares a deep connection with our Church, having studied at Hellenic College Holy Cross. May his ministry be blessed, and may his tenure as Primate bring a continued witness to Christ and unity to His Body.”
