On April 24, 2025, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over the Great Vespers of the Life-Giving Fountain at Zoodohos Peghe Greek Orthodox Church in The Bronx, New York. His Eminence was welcomed by the youth of Zoodohos Peghe. His Eminence was joined by Archdiocesan District Chancellor Fr. Elias Villis, Prositamenos Fr. Vasilios Louros, and local clergy.
“What a joy it is to be with you once again – the faithful of our Ζωοδόχος Πηγή Church here in the Bronx. Your Feast day – the Life-Giving Fountain, is a hallmark of Bright Week, the Sacred Week in which the renewal that comes from the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ washes over us,” His Eminence remarked, “And the source of this washing is nothing less than the Life-Giving Fountain Herself, the Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary…She represents the fullness of creation, in which God willed to become incarnate, and as such, she is like the earth itself, covered with boundless oceans, seas, lakes, and rivers. From the Theotokos issues forth the life-giving waters of our own sanctification, and the glorification of Her Son.”
Following the service, the community gathered for a luncheon where the children of Zoodohos Peghe performed traditional Greek folk dances.
