On Tuesday, August 20, Archbishop Elpidophoros met with Archbishop Anoushavan Tanielian, Prelate of the Eastern Prelacy of the Armenian Apostolic Church under the jurisdiction of the Holy See of the Great House of Cilicia.
Rev. Fr. Mesrob Lakissian, pastor of St. Illuminator’s Armenian Apostolic Cathedral and Archdeacon Shant Kazanjian, Director of the Armenian Religious Education Council (AREC) also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the common history between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Armenian Apostolic Church was recognised. The two spiritual leaders shared common pastoral concerns in the US such as parochial schools, assimilation and refugees.
Both hierarchs expressed a desire for common witness, for more frequent meetings and for closer collaboration.
