On the afternoon of Friday, May 29, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America visited the Holy Metropolis of Thessaloniki, where he was warmly welcomed by Metropolitan Philotheos of Thessaloniki.
The Archbishop was accompanied by Bishop Ioannis of Phocaea, clergy of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and a group of graduating students from the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Boston.
During the meeting, Archbishop Elpidophoros presented to the Metropolitan the academic program and activities of the Holy Cross School of Theology.
Metropolitan Filotheos also had the opportunity to engage in discussion with the students on a variety of topics.
Also participating in the meeting were the Protosyncellus of the Metropolis, Fr. Iakovos Athanasiou; Fr. Damaskinos Petikas, director of the Youth Office; and Professor Symeon Paschalidis of the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Director of the Patriarchal Foundation for Patristic Studies.
The meeting took place within the framework of the annual pilgrimage trip to Greece undertaken by graduating students of the Holy Cross School of Theology.
