On Saturday, March 15, 2025, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America attended a working breakfast with House Majority Leader Congressman Steve Scalise and Louisiana businessman and philanthropist John Georges. Congressman Scalise, a devout Roman Catholic, maintains deep respect for the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Greek Orthodox Church in America.
As a member of the Congressional Caucus on Hellenic Issues, he remains closely engaged with matters concerning Greece and Cyprus.
During their discussion, Archbishop Elpidophoros briefed Congressman Scalise on key issues facing the Ecumenical Patriarchate and addressed priorities of the Greek American community.
The Archbishop warmly thanked Congressman Scalise for his hospitality during President Trump’s inauguration. He extended an invitation for the Congressman to attend the upcoming Greek Independence Day celebrations, visit the Archdiocese headquarters in New York, and join him for a special visit to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at Ground Zero.
John Georges, a distinguished member of the Greek American community, continues to generously support the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese and Ecumenical Patriarchate.
