On April 10, 2025, hierarchs and clergy from across the Archdiocesan District along with former and current staff gathered with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America in the Chapel of St. Paul at the Archdiocese headquarters to attend a Pre-Sanctified Liturgy and 20-year memorial for the Ever-Memorable Archbishop Iakovos of North & South America. Archdiocesan District Chancellor Fr. Elias Villis presided over the service, which was also attended by Archbishop Demetrios, former of America, and Paulette Poulos, Executive Director of Leadership 100 and long-time assistant to Archbishop Iakovos.
In his homily for the occasion, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America reflected on Archbishop Iakovos’s faith and accomplishments across his lifetime, and expressed his hope that “every generation will take the time to learn of his legacy, which lives on in this Archdiocese which he served for the vast portion of his earthly life.” The service was a fitting tribute to Archbishop Iakovos’s legacy, concluding with the offering of a trisagion in his memory.
