Archbishop Elpidophoros of America showed signs of overwork, after the busy schedule of the last days, as a result of which he felt dizzy and unwell on Saturday.
As reported by The National Herald, Archbishop Elpidophoros visited his doctor who recommended a rest, as the dizziness came from vertigo which causes excessive fatigue, and remained bedridden on Saturday and Sunday.
Archbishop Elpidophoros will not accompany the Ecumenical Patriarch on his departure for Constantinople at noon on Sunday, but will be accompanied on his behalf by Bishop Apostolos of Medea.
In the communication of The National Herald with Archbishop Elpidophoros, the latter confirmed the news of his malaise.
The Archbishop canceled his participation in the dinner of the Philoptochos Brotherhood, in which he was represented by Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzus, as well as in the Serbian Liturgy in Pittsburgh.
He also canceled his visit to St. Nektarios Monastery in New York, where he will be represented by Bishop Apostolos of Medea.
