On Sunday of the Blind Man, May 25, 2025, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew attended prayerfully from the Holy Altar of the Patriarchal Church during the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.
Also in attendance were Archbishop Elia of Helsinki and All Finland, Metropolitan Joseph of Buenos Aires, Metropolitan Theodoros of Seleucia, Bishops Irenaios of Tropaion and Meletios of Zela, both assistant bishops of the Holy Metropolis of Buenos Aires, as well as Roman Catholic Bishop Raimo Goyarrola of Helsinki.
The congregation included clergy, Archons of the Ecumenical Throne, a group of professors and senior students from Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Theology in Boston, as well as a large number of Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant pilgrims from Finland, along with many faithful from Constantinople and abroad.
Following the Dismissal, the Ecumenical Patriarch warmly welcomed all the pilgrims from abroad, especially the groups from Finland and the United States. On the occasion of this year’s 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council, held in Nicaea of Bithynia, he spoke about the enduring significance of the Council for all Christians.
