On November 8, 2024, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America arrived in Chicago for the 50th anniversary of St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church.
The previous evening, the Archbishop presided over Great Vespers at St. Nectarios, every pew of which was filled with parishioners.
Reflecting on the joy of celebrating both the Feastday of St. Nectarios, and the Jubilee of St. Nektarios parish, His Eminence remarked, “I can feel the prayers of Church communities across our Archdiocese, who are gathered as we are, to intone his praises and our gratitude to God, at all the many Great Vespers Services taking place around the country this evening. It is a gift to be united with one another around the figure of such a great Saint of our Church.”
At the end of the Vespers service His Eminence elevated the Fr. Chris Mihalopoulos, Proistamenos of St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church since January 2019, to the Office of Economos.
