The members and executives of AHEPA Delphi Chapter 25 attended the awards ceremony of the former president Louis Katsos, which took place on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.
As reported by anamniseis.net, the event was attended by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs for Greek Diaspora, Konstantinos Vlasis, the Consuls General of Greece and of Cyprus in New York, Dr. Konstantinos Koutras and Michalis Fyrillas, respectively, the Consul of Greece, Dimitris Papageorgiou, the Vice-President of the Archdiocesan Council, John Katsimatidis, the President of the Committee of Friends of Saint Nicholas, Dennis Mill.
The presence and greeting of the Democratic Party nominee in the 2021 New York City mayoral election, Eric Adams, caused a special sensation.
Both the President of the Chapter, Theodoros Klingos, and the aforementioned official guests referred to the contribution of Louis Katsos to AHEPA, the leading organization of Greek Americans, as well as to the construction of the historic Church of St. Nicholas that was destroyed on September 11, 2001.
Extensive reference was also made to the contribution of the honoree during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, who through online discussions managed to inform the expatriates about the role of the Greeks in the Greek Revolution, as well as the role of the Greek Revolution in the Balkans in Europe and America.
The honoree referred to the offer of the AHEPA Chapter 25, which this year celebrates the 99th anniversary of its founding, and stressed that it coincided with the 100th anniversary of the founding of AHEPA and the Holy Archdiocese.
