On the evening of Sunday, June 15, the Megalo Revma Community had the distinct honor of welcoming Archbishop Ioannis of Albania. The Archbishop is currently in Constantinople for his customary peaceful visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
Archbishop Ioannis was accompanied by Metropolitans Nikolaos of Apollonia and Fier, Astios of Berat, Aulon, and Kanina, Theophil Bishop Anastasios of Kruja, along with other senior clergy and lay collaborators. They were warmly received by Metropolitan Athenagoras of Kydonias, the Community’s Archpastoral Leader, alongside Dora Diakrousi and Loxandra Mais, Presidents of the Community’s Administrative Committee and Ladies Philoptochos Society respectively, as well as members of both governing bodies.
Following a visit and guided tour of the splendid Church of the All-Praised Archangels, the Archbishop and his delegation were led to the Community Hall, where an official dinner was held in his honor. The event was graced by the presence of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, other hierarchs, and distinguished guests.
During dessert, Metropolitan Athenagoras respectfully addressed the esteemed guest. Warm remarks followed from Archbishop Ioannis and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, after which symbolic gifts were exchanged.
The Megalo Revma Community expresses its deepest gratitude and respect to Patriarch Bartholomew for including them in the official program of the peaceful visit of the new Archbishop of Albania. The community wishes Archbishop Ioannis a long, fruitful, and blessed archiepiscopacy.
