“With deep sorrow, we were informed of the passing away of our beloved brother Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus, with whom we were linked by long-standing cordial friendship. The deceased was distinguished for his orthodox spirituality, boldness, and patriotism.
He impressed the Orthodox pious people of Cyprus “in wisdom and spiritual understanding” with substantial initiatives and fruitful work. He participated in the Pan-Orthodox Synaxis and especially in the Holy and Great Synod of Crete with responsibility, ” said Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana, Durres and All Albania for the passing away of the late Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus.
Metropolitan Nathaniel of Amantia, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, and Protopresbyter Fr. Ioannis Mercouris will represent the Church of Albania at the funeral service.
In the announcement issued by the Chief Secretariat of the Holy Synod, it is further emphasized that “Deeply sympathizing with the holy Hierarchy of the Church of Cyprus and the Orthodox people, we performed a Trisagion service in the Chapel of the Archdiocese of Tirana for the repose of his soul”.
