Archbishop Anastasios of Albania has arrived at Evangelismos Hospital in Athens following a deterioration in his health. He was transported from Tirana to Athens aboard an Air Force aircraft, which took off shortly after 18:30 and landed in Elefsina at approximately 19:30 Greek time. A trained medical team from EKAB (Emergency Aid Centre) accompanied him during the flight. Upon arrival in Elefsina, an ambulance swiftly transferred the Archbishop to the hospital, where he is now receiving medical care.
According to Protothema.gr, the Archbishop’s condition worsened after the virus he was battling developed into an infection. Additionally, he reportedly experienced digestive system bleeding, necessitating immediate transfer to Athens for specialized medical attention.
Latest reports indicate that Archbishop Anastasios will be admitted to a standard ward at Evangelismos Hospital, contrary to earlier information suggesting he would require intensive care.
