In a festive and deeply spiritual atmosphere, the Sunday Divine Liturgy at the “Resurrection of Christ” Cathedral in Tirana was celebrated this Sunday under the leadership of Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana, Durrës, and All Albania, accompanied by clergy of the Archdiocese.
The ceremony drew a large number of faithful, reflecting the vitality and devotion of the Orthodox community in the spiritual life of the Church.
In his sermon, Archbishop Ioannis reflected on the day’s Gospel reading, which recounts two miracles of Jesus Christ—the healing of the woman with the issue of blood and the raising of Jairus’s daughter. He emphasized the message of unwavering faith, patience, and Christian hope that flows from these Gospel events, encouraging the faithful to strengthen their personal relationship with God through prayer, participation in the Divine Liturgy, and love toward others.
“Faith is the power that heals the soul and revives life within us. When one approaches Christ with faith, every wound is healed and every darkness is illuminated,” said Archbishop Ioannis in his pastoral message.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, an official announcement was made that beginning on November 15 and continuing until Christmas, forty consecutive days of daily Divine Liturgies will be celebrated at the Church of the Annunciation in Tirana as part of the spiritual preparation for the Feast of the Nativity of Christ. The faithful received this announcement with humility and joy, welcoming the opportunity for deeper participation in the daily liturgical life of the Church during the Nativity Fast.
As on every Sunday, the Church warmly invited parents, children, and young people to take part in the spiritual activities organized after the Divine Liturgy by the Department of Orthodox Education of the Holy Archdiocese. These activities aim to strengthen the values of faith, community, and spiritual identity among children, parents, and the younger generations.
