Archbishop Ioannis of Tirana attended the Divine Liturgy held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, in a gesture showing the fraternal bonds between the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania and the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Following the Divine Liturgy, the funeral service for the late Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia was held, presided over by Patriarch Bartholomew I, together with members of the local Holy Synod and hierarchs from across the Orthodox world.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Archbishop Ioannis met with the Ecumenical Patriarch, as well as with representatives of the other Orthodox Churches who had gathered in Tbilisi to pay their final respects, reaffirming the unity and communion within global Orthodoxy.
