Archbishop Ioannis of Albania, accompanied by Bishop Anastasios of Krujë, was in the Vatican for the funeral mass for Pope Francis, representing the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania.
The leaders of the other religious communities of Albania, who together with the Orthodox Church form the Interreligious Council of Albania, also traveled to the Vatican for the funeral.
Heading the Albanian delegation at the funeral is the President of the Republic of Albania, Baryam Beqaj.
Archbishop Ioannis continues the tradition of cooperation among faiths, a path inaugurated by the late Archbishop Anastasios from the very beginning of his tenure in Albania.
