On Sunday, 22nd September 2024, Archbishop Nikitas of Thyateira and Great Britain made his inaugural pastoral visit to the Greek Orthodox Community of St Andrew in Torquay.
The Archbishop presided over Matins and celebrated the Divine Liturgy. Concelebrating with him was the Revd Presbyter Trayan Goranov, Priest-in-Charge. The Revd Archdeacon George Tsourous also served.
The congregation gathered to worship together in unity.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Archbishop Nikitas tonsured Arsenios Copleston as Reader. He also awarded the Medal Cross of the Holy Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain to Mr. Robert Skrivanos, in recognition of his dedicated service and generous support to the Torquay parish over 55 years.
Following the Divine Liturgy and a shared meal, Archbishop Nikitas engaged with the parishioners in an interactive discussion, further deepening the connection between the clergy and the community.
The wonderful hospitality reflected the deep bonds of community spirit, love, and unity in the vibrant, multi-ethnic community of St Andrew in Torquay.
