“The Triumphant Church, from now on, is enriched with the figure of a great spiritual father; the former Prior of the Holy Monastery of Simonos Petra and Spiritual father at the Holy Cenobium of the Annunciation of the Mother of God, Ormylia, Elder Emilianos,” Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens says in a statement about the death of the Elder.
As he points out, “The wealth of Theology and the Holy Tradition of the Church are concentrated in the personality of the Elder.”
He speaks of his devotion and the endless cultivation of mental prayer.
According to Archbishop Ieronymos, Elder Emilianos once said, “Have you noticed which people are dear and sought-after? Those who minister, those who are really calm and willing to accept the other’s opinion, whose sensitivity is directed both to God and men.”
“Such a sought-after man was elder Emilianos,” Ieronymos concludes.
