“The country should invest in more centres like this, as they give children, which are the future of our homeland, a real sense of peace and calm,” said Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece during the inauguration of the “Saint Panteleimon” Youth and Music Education Centre of the Archdiocese of Athens in Patisia.
The Centre will house the Foundation for Byzantine and Traditional Music and the School of Byzantine Music as well as the Youth and Family Foundation of the Archdiocese of Athens.
Archimandrite Eirinaios Nakos is the Director of the Foundation for Byzantine and Traditional Music.
The new Metropolitan of Fthiotida firstly performed the sanctification service and then the Archbishop said, “The Church should invest in children. One of the most serious problems nowadays is that people are stepping away from the Church and therefore it will be very difficult for them to come back in the future. So investing in family, parents and church is considered as the best solution. We should invest in the soul of human beings, children, culture, letters, broad knowledge, and many aspects that heal the soul. Music education is the least church, family, and the state can offer to their children.”
The Archbishop wished all the best and said, “Athens and all Greece should invest in more centres like this, as they give children, which are the future of our homeland, a real sense of peace and calm.”
