The difficulties of ascetic life were the topic of the sermon given by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece on Saturday afternoon in St. Ioannis Theologos Monastery, in Papagos area, where he ordained Sister Nektaria a nun.
Earlier, Bishop Symeon of Thespies officiated at Vesper ceremony, and also ordained Fathers Georgios Silivestros and Panagiotis Tagaris as Archpriests.
Addressing nun Nektaria, the Archbishop said that, during this heartwarming and emotional evening at the historical monastery, “the blessing we shall offer Nektaria emanates from the text we read, i.e. from God’s Word”.
In particular, the Archbishop spoke of asceticism stressing that “nowadays there are far more difficulties in ascetic life”, urging the congregation to pray for Nun Nektaria to find the strength to endure those difficulties.
