The National Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society celebrated their annual Vasilopita Open House on January 16, 2025 with Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, National President Debbie George, and Metropolis presidents present.
After enjoying light refreshments and enjoyable conversation, Archbishop Elpidophoros cut the Vasilopita and announced the recipients of the blessed coins. In his remarks, the Archbishop reminded those gathered that Philoptochos is “an integral part of the Archdiocese, “For the Church is the fulness – the pleroma – of the human experience, and without the woman of the Church – mothers, daughters, and sisters – there would be no Church.”
After the Vasilopita cutting, Philoptochos members and other attendees continued to enjoy each other’s company, catching up with old friends, making new connections, and celebrating the new year.
