Archbishop Elpidophoros of America has congratulated Archbishop-elect Apostolos of Canada following his election by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as the new Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Canada.
In a message shared on social media, Archbishop Elpidophoros expressed his “profound joy” and extended his heartfelt congratulations to his “beloved brother in Christ” upon his elevation by the Ecumenical Patriarchate to lead the Church in Canada.
The Archbishop said he was praying that Archbishop-elect Apostolos would begin his new archpastoral ministry with unwavering devotion, pastoral sensitivity, compassionate wisdom, and steadfast fidelity to the Mother Church of Constantinople.
Archbishop Elpidophoros also expressed the hope that the Archbishop-elect would strengthen the clergy and faithful entrusted to his care, respond with love and discernment to the pastoral needs of the Greek Orthodox community across Canada, and advance the sacred mission of the Church with humility and determination.
Concluding his message, Archbishop Elpidophoros prayed that the Lord would grant Archbishop-elect Apostolos abundant strength, wisdom, and every heavenly blessing as he assumes his new responsibilities. He further expressed the hope that his ministry would prove fruitful and enduring, serving the glory of God, the growth of the Church, and the ministry of the Ecumenical Throne.
