Archbishop of Cyprus Chrysostomos welcomed Greek Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras to the seat of the Archdiocese on Sunday.
According to the announcement issued by the Church of Cyprus, the minister of Finance attended the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint Ioannis in Nicosia.
In a private meeting held at the office of the Archbishop, in the presence of the outgoing Greek Ambassador to Cyprus, Ilias Fotopoulos, the Greek Minister of Finance expressed his appreciation for the strong presence of the Primate of the Church of Cyprus in many sectors, in particular in the national issue of Cyprus as well as his decisive intervention in matters related to the Orthodox world.
They also referred to the rapid restoration of the economic prosperity after a crisis that affected Cyprus six years ago. This is at least partly due to the proper response by the officials as well as the Church and its proper planning.
Finally, the Archbishop offered the Greek Minister a silver representation of the mosaic of the Metropolis of Paphos, which depicts the Christianization of the Cypriots by the Apostles Paul and Barnabas.
