The Holy Archdiocese of Australia has announced an anniversary event in Sydney to mark the first year of operation of the “Living” Museum, “Our People, Their Stories” (www.opts.org.au).
In October 2024, the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew inaugurated this important initiative, which aims to record and preserve the personal stories of members of the Greek diaspora in Australia, including first- and second-generation immigrants.
The anniversary event will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Australian National Maritime Museum (2 Murray Street, Sydney, New South Wales, 2000).
Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the Hellenic Minister of Culture Ms. Lina Mendoni, and the New South Wales Minister for Multiculturalism Mr. Steve Kamper will be in attendance, along with other distinguished guests.
As part of the event, there will be an official presentation of Our People, Their Stories in Sydney. The program will include a screening of a commemorative audiovisual tribute and a selection of recorded stories.
The event will also feature an exhibition of historical artifacts related to the migration of the Greek diaspora in Australia.
