On Tuesday night to Wednesday dawn, May 19, 2021, the day of remembrance of the Pontians’ Genocide, the Archbishops Demetrios of Lydda and Aristovoulos of Madaba co-celebrated the All-night Vigil with a memorial service at the Holy Sepulchre.
The Service was observed with the blessing and encouragement of Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem for the blessed memory and eternal repose of the souls of the 400.000 Pontians and Minor Asia inhabitants who were slaughtered by the Turks in 1922, during the population exchange.
The two Archbishops who officiated the Divine Liturgy and the Memorial Service come from Pontus.
