Last year, in addition to the daily Prayers of the 15th of August, which are always performed in all parishes of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, in the Archdiocese of Adelaide was performed, on the initiative of Bishop Siluanos of Sinope, –for the first time together – Prayer of the 15th of August, in which praying priests and people from all the parishes of the Archdiocesan Region participated. There was a blessed gathering in the spirit of the unity in Christ of all the parishes of the city.
This year, on Sunday, August 8, 2021, this joint Prayer returned to the cult calendar of the Archdiocese of Adelaide, performed again in the Holy Temple of St. Panteleimon Glenelg, in which the choir of the Archdiocese of Greece sang “Saint John of Damascus”.
The Metropolitan spoke about the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and its importance for our lives. The devotion, love, and obedience of the Virgin Mary to her Son and God bore fruit so that her death would be a joyful event of her union with Christ and of her eternal life with Him. And her meekness, noted Theophilestatos, is for us a model in our preparation for our inevitable death.
At the end of the service, he conveyed the paternal wishes and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia to all the faithful of the Archdiocese of Adelaide.
After the end of the procession, fasting sweets and refreshments were offered by the ladies of the Central Poor Brotherhood, who, always tireless, fight for the good of our local Church.
