The Holy Diocese of Adelaide held its first-ever Christmas Market on the evening of Sunday, December 14, at the parish of the Archiepiscopal Church of the Holy Wisdom of God (Hagia Sophia) in Adelaide.
Inspired by the joy and warmth of the Christmas season, the market aimed to bring together people from across the Diocese to share in the spirit of the approaching Feast of the Nativity. Delicious food, beautiful weather, Christmas carols and festive songs, gift ideas, a children’s craft corner, and an exhibition of Christmas books all contributed to creating a welcoming and heartwarming family atmosphere. In addition to Orthodox faithful, many local residents from the surrounding area also attended and joined in the celebration.
As this was the first time such an event had been organized, the organizers were unsure what to expect. However, the outcome exceeded all expectations, with an impressive turnout and enthusiastic participation. The evening served as a vibrant testimony to the Christmas spirit of the faithful and provided a wonderful opportunity for the Diocese of Adelaide to share the joy of Christmas with the wider local community.
There is a shared hope that this festive initiative will continue to grow in the years to come, building upon this wonderful beginning.
