A detail of the reshuffle that not many people noticed. With so much happening around us, in Greece, Europe and America, there is a lot of “material” that we do not have time to analyze.
Alexandra Papadopoulou got bumped down from alternate foreign minister to the position of deputy minister. It is said that Kyriakos Mitsotakis decided to defuse the situation in the USA with a… sacrifice. It is rumored, that he made the decision after a clear warning from by John Catsimatidis. The experienced Catsimatidis asked for no “personal politics” within the Foreign Ministry.
“The world is burning, you are acting selfishly and keeping a straight face at the Archdiocese of America,” he said in a few words. And Katsimatidis spoke neither as a businessman nor as a member of the council of the Archdiocese of America. He spoke as a friend of the US president, who so far doesn’t… even see where Greece is headed.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis, in order to prove that he has changed sides, decided to sacrifice, in a way, Alexandra Papadopoulou. A bit of pressure from G. Gerapetritis, a bit of discomfort from the Greek diaspora, and Mitsotakis appointed Yiannis Loverdos as a link between the Churches and the government. Loverdos, known for his moderates stance, has taken on the role of “repairing the broken glass” between the government and Orthodoxy throughout the world.
