All Saints Grammar in Belmore officially began the 2023 school year with an Agiasmos Blessing held at the Greek Orthodox Parish and Community of Belmore and District “All Saints” Church on Wednesday, February 1, 2023.
The service was officiated by the Chancellor of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Christophoros Krikelis, representing His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, together with parish priests, Father Dimitrios Papaikonomou and Father Christos Triandafyllou.
The Agiasmos blessing is a longstanding tradition at the school and serves as a way to bless the beginning of every new academic year.
The Head of School Lillis expressed her welcome to the parents joining the All Saints Grammar community and reiterated the school’s desire to strengthen our network with the parent body. “We are in this together”, she said. “In the interest of our students, your children, let’s support one another in providing them with the best opportunities to learn and grow into wonderful people”.
In attendance were members of the student’s families, teachers, and the President of the All Saints Parish, Ulysses Ntoumbos, who on behalf of the Board of Directors, reaffirmed the community’s interest in beginning the new year with renewed energy in the interest of the students.
As expected, students and families we very excited to begin the next chapter in their education. For some, this is the first step in their educational journey as they start Kindergarten. The Agiasmos service is one example of the way in which our school promotes the values of the Greek Orthodox Faith. We are grateful that the Chancellor of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite Christophoros Krikelis was gracious in his engagement of students, demonstrating his love and care for the children of our school.
We wish the parents, staff, and students of the All Saints Grammar community, the best of success for the 2023 academic year.
