A post of the Russian Embassy in Greece on Twitter caused an angry reaction to the Greek Twitter users.
More specifically, the official account of the Russian embassy in Athens, commented on the statement of the American ambassador in Athens, Geoffrey Pyatt, during the Third International Conference on Religious Diplomacy.
In particular, the Russian embassy “tweeted” that: “The illiteracy of the Orthodox, the ignorance of its rules, the instrumentalization of religion, the misinformation… All these are not compatible neither with faith, nor with morals, nor with diplomacy.”
However, the reaction of the users-followers of the Russian Embassy on Twitter was different, since they hurried to recall the “lukewarm” reaction of Russia to the conversion of Hagia Sophia in Constantinople into a mosque, in parallel with the statement of a high-ranking Russian official that “now the Russians are able to visit Hagia Sophia without paying a ticket “.
