Thanasis Gavelas presented Greece with its first gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympic Games.
The 22-year-old athlete, together with his companion Sotiris Garaganis, won first place in the 100m final, on the T11 category with a time of 10.82, even improving the world record they had set in yesterday’s (1/9) qualifier with 10.88.
The second place of the final was taken by the French Timote Adolf with 10.90 and the third by the Chinese Dongdong Di with 11.03.
