On Friday, June 11, on the occasion of the commemoration of the glorious Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, a day on which Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew celebrates his nameday, a multi-Hierarchical Divine Liturgy (starting at 7:30 am) will be celebrated at the Cathedral of the Annunciation of the Theotokos in Sydney, presided over by Metropolitan Seraphim of Sevasteia and will be concelebrated by Bishop Iakovos of Miletoupolis and Bishop Emilianos of Meloa.
On the same day, the memory of Saint Bartholomew and the name day of the Ecumenical Patriarch will be ceremonially celebrated in Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Northcote, that is, in all the sees of the Archdiocesan Districts of our Holy Archdiocese.
The Divine Liturgies will be presided over by the local Archiepiscopal Vicars.
In the meantime, Archbishop Makarios of Australia, accompanied by Archdeacon Athinagoras, will travel to the sacred centre of Orthodoxy to convey to the Ecumenical Patriarch the respects and wishes of the Bishops, the noble clergy and the Christ-loving people of the fifth continent.
Afterwards, the Archbishop, as a Synodal member, will participate in the work of the Holy and Sacred Synod.
