On Monday morning, December 7, 2020, the Ambassador of Greece in Tel-Aviv Panayiotis Sarris visited the Patriarchate, accompanied by his wife Catherine Loupa and his colleagues Daskalopoulos and Mazaraki.
The Ambassador and his company were received by Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem and Hagiotaphite Fathers.
The Patriarch of Jerusalem informed the Ambassador about the Patriarchate shrines and the material property, and about the problems we face regarding the challenging of the Patriarchate rights. Patriarch Theophilos also mentioned the pastoral, educational and peace-making role of the Patriarchate in the Holy Land, which has always the support of our blessed nation, despite the adverse conditions.
Thanking the Patriarch of Jerusalem for the information, Sarris expressed his sincere interest in supporting the mission of the Patriarchate, and afterwards, he visited the Central Library of the Patriarchate, followed by the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the Tomb of the Mother of God in Gethsemane.
Patriarch Theophilos offered the Ambassador and his company an icon of the Edicule of the Holy Sepulchre for their visit.
