“There is no doubt that diseases are transmitted through Holy Communion,” Marios Lazanas, an infectious disease specialist and member of the expert committee of the Ministry of Health, told SKAI TV earlier.
“Obviously there is no epidemiological study to prove it,” admitted Lazanas, who stated, however, that “there is scientific logic.”
Lazanas claimed that the whole ritual of the Divine Communion creates a problem, the priest who does not wear a mask but also the common red swab which is used and suggested that the Holy Communion should be avoided by the faithful.
“Let them go to church – it is not necessary to go only during the hours that the Divine Liturgy takes place but also when it is empty – let them cross themselves without kissing the icon” said the infectious disease specialist.
