The Archbishop of America plans to visit the Ecumenical Patriarchate for the Beginning of the Indiction, September 1, which marks the beginning of the liturgical year, as reported by The National Herald.
The special ceremony that takes place at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George is presided over by Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who first signs the Code of the New Year of the Lord, followed by the Synodal members and all the attending Hierarchs of the Throne.
It will be the first time this year that Elpidophoros will sign the Indiction Code as Archbishop of America.
The last time the Archbishop had visited the Phanar was in November 2019, and then he could not pay a visit due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As reported by the newspaper, Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem will also be present at this year’s Indiction ceremony.
