Today is Sunday of Carnival, that is the day when the faithful stop eating meat.
There are many references to the Second Coming of Christ both in the hymns and in the passages of the Gospel, which we chant and read today. At the same time, we should not forget that charity, Christian faith, and the Church are the only ways, which will lead us to salvation. The memory of the Second Coming of Saviour Christ should be taken as a wake-up call to change our life and to repent. It will be a powerful remedy in the fight against indifference towards spiritual awakening.
The faithful must know that God is loving and merciful, as we have already seen in the parables of the Publican and the Pharisee and of the Prodigal Son. God is also just and, therefore, He will judge everyone depending on his or her way of life. We must take today’s teachings into account and get motivated in order to be able to follow the path of love and humility.
