Drugs and other issues that concern both the Church and the state were discussed by Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth, Prodromos Prodromou, at their meeting in the Holy Archdiocese of Cyprus.
In his remarks after the meeting, the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports and Youth characterized his first meeting with the Archbishop cordially.
Archbishop Chrysostomos of Cyprus stated that, as a Church, they are interested in the Ministry of Education and always want to collaborate with it.
“Let’s be helpful, because we want to offer real education to our young people, for they are tomorrow’s citizens to whom we will lay our hopes to move the country forward,” he added.
Referring to the case of the 645kg of drugs that were found in Australia last Monday, the Primate of Cyprus said “we must tackle this problem, which is devastating for our youth.”
As the Archbishop of Cyprus said, “we need to concern the children so that there is real prevention, which is the best cure. I believe in prevention. It is the best method to avoid the evil that has plagued our youth. We will always be close to the Ministry, close to the Minister. Our door will always be open and our cooperation, absolute. We will be at the disposal of the Minister and the Ministry of Education,” he concluded.
