Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, accompanied by his entourage, visited the city of Turin on Friday, July 5, as part of his recent tour of Italy.
They toured the Cappella della Sacra Sindone, the Royal Palace, and the Museum of the Holy Shroud. Shortly afterwards, the Ecumenical Patriarch visited the Greek Orthodox Parish of Turin. He was welcomed with honors by Father Joseph, his parishioners, and the Honorary Consul General of Greece, Phivos Valachis, accompanied by the choir of the Church of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.
A luncheon was then hosted in his honor by Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy.
On Thursday, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew visited Milan and the Diocese of Ivrea at the invitation of Bishop Aldo Cerrato of Edoardo. He attended ecclesiastical events held in honor of Hieromartyr Sabine, the Bishop and Protector of Ivrea.
Members of the Patriarchal entourage include Metropolitan Polykarpos of Italy, Bishop Paisios of Xanthoupolis, Patriarchal Deacon Barnabas, Archimandrite Ioannis Batsis, Hierarchical Head of the Community of Milan, and Chrysovalantis Gulgun, one of the Secretaries of the Patriarchate.
