On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew met with Ruslan Abashidze, the head of the government-in-exile of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia.
During their meeting, they discussed various current issues. The Ecumenical Patriarch highlighted the peace initiatives and actions of the Mother Church, both at its headquarters and globally.
Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon represented the Patriarchate at the meeting. Abashidze was accompanied by his wife Tamar Chkheidze, the Consul General of Georgia in Constantinople Aleksandre Jishkariani, and the Minister of Justice of Abkhazia Giorgi Gabedava, along with members of his office.
