The new spiritual leader of Greek expatriates of Australia, Archbishop Makarios, thanked them from the depth of his heart in the warmest and most emphatic words.
“During my time here in our new homeland, I find that all of us, clergy and people, live in a climate of prolonged Pentecost”.
“We experience a state of constant joy, peace, excitement, tears, heartbeat, inner freedom and renovation. Your love, your words and your prayers are a great spiritual support for me”, Archbishop Makarios wrote in his first official letter to the expatriates of Australia.
The Archbishop chose the day of the celebration for the Transfiguration of Christ to address his first official message since, as he wrote, “The work of transforming people has already begun to be carried out by Christ and then bequeathed to the Church and the Apostles”.
“Ηere, in Australia, today, we must all together, clergy and people, devote ourselves to this sacred purpose. I invite you to join the work of Christ and the Church, which is a work of renovation and transformation; may we maintain our unity and work together for the good of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, preserving our Greek language, customs and morals, that our ancestors bequeathed us”.
“I call upon your love, so that we can move forward all together”, concluded the Archbishop in his letter.
