On March 25, at the Sioni Cathedral, the Locum Tenens of the Patriarchal Throne, Metropolitan Shio of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, presided over a supplicatory service (Paraklesis) on the occasion of the restoration of the autocephaly of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
Concelebrating with His Eminence were hierarchs of the Holy Synod and members of the clergy.
A memorial service was also offered for the nine days since the repose of the Patriarch of Georgia, Ilia II, as well as of other Patriarchs.
The service was attended by the President of Georgia, the Prime Minister, the Speaker of Parliament, representatives of the legislative and executive authorities, as well as a large number of faithful.
